Course Structure of Bay of Plenty / Waikato Sports Chaplaincy training Phase 3,4
Bay of Plenty / Waikato Sports Chaplaincy training Phase 3,4 will run over 2 days, from 9am until 4pm. Each day covers one phase of training, consisting of six hours of interactive class time, plus breaks for lunch, as well as morning and afternoon tea.

- Sports organisations (includes a field trip)
- Health and safety
- Family life
- Grief, loss and transitions
- Suicide awareness
- Pathway to placement
- Developing your game plan
This is the second half of SCNZ’s Four Phase training, and it is preferable to have completed Phases 1 and 2 before attending this training. Phase 1 explores the Biblical basis and critical elements of Sports Chaplaincy, while Phase 2 places particular emphasis on pastoral care. Four Phase training is especially relevant for those who wish to serve formally as a Sports Chaplain.
Each topic includes a Learning Capture, where time is provided for you to reflect on your learning as well as its application for you.
Once you have completed all four phases, you may apply to become an accredited Sports Chaplain.
