SCNZ’s Sports Chaplaincy Course is now ‘blended’, combining online and face-to-face training. The Sports Chaplaincy Workshop is the soft skills part of the Course, which complements the online part of the Course.Yes, I’m interested in this training
Course information for Canterbury Sports Chaplaincy training
Topics covered are:
- Sports Chaplaincy NZ;
- biblical basis for sports ministry;
- foundations of Sports Chaplaincy;
- legal compliance and codes;
- the athlete;
- critical incidents;
- grief, loss and transitions;
- active listening;
- telling the Good News;
After this course, you may then apply to become an accredited Sports Chaplain. This process includes an interview, as well as police and reference checks.
If you would like to serve your community, then there are many opportunities in Sports Chaplaincy.
Workshop information for Canterbury Sports Chaplaincy training
The Workshop centres on pastoral and mentoring skills, following on from the theory learnt in the online programme.
In order to become a Sports Chaplain, you must participate in this Workshop.
The Workshop will run Friday 7-9:30 pm, then Saturday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
