About Sports Chaplaincy New Zealand

Sports Chaplaincy New Zealand (SCNZ) provides pastoral care and support to Aotearoa New Zealand’s sporting communities. We do this by identifying, training, appointing, and guiding Sports Chaplains who are available as volunteers to serve sports communities at all levels. The effect of Sports Chaplains placed in sports communities is improved mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing leading to better people, better lives, better outcomes and better communities.

About the Position

SCNZ Regional Leaders proactively lead Sports Chaplaincy New Zealand’s vision and strategy within their region, growing the movement towards a trained, accredited Sports Chaplain in every sports community wanting one. As Sports Chaplains themselves, our Regional Leaders are gifted motivators who inspire others to become Sports Chaplains, and journey with them through their training and accreditation, giving them ongoing support in their role.

We are seeking someone who embodies our vision and values and is highly motivated in all necessary aspects of leading a team of volunteers. They must be able to identify other gifted leaders who will help them manage a growing team within their region. They will be motivated to raise up ministry partners who will help fund their region and provide prayer and other support.

Our new Regional Leader will have a strong Christian faith and understand pastoral care. They will demonstrate proficiency in personal organisation, time management, working remotely but in partnership with the rest of the SCNZ national team, being timely and efficient communication and administration.

They will be an excellent and appropriate communicator with strong written, verbal, and computer communication abilities, able to promote SCNZ well within the Christian community as well as to the sports and wider community.

They will love and understand te Tiriti o Waitangi, being culturally competent and sensitive to those they serve and work with. Above all, they will love God, value people, and have the knowledge and skills to drive Sports Chaplaincy New Zealand's expansion and long-term success in the area.
